I took my 3 sons, youngest is 6, on a ride at this place and they had a great time. The horses seemed well trained and calm, it was a nice ride. Our guide was also informative and kept an eye on the kids. Im not sure about some reviews that say the horses are not well taken care of as they seemed to be healthy and well taken care of. Yes the place is a little rough but it was a good time and much cheaper than other places.
Don't let the good reviews sway you to support this business. First off our guide was a kind person and was doing her job. However this place is disgusting. Poop everywhere! Bathrooms horribly disgusting. The helmets the children are to wear are unbelievably gross. The horses were not well taken of, they were thirsty and hungry. Their manes were not brushed. I could tell these horses were not happy. We had four children 8-11 that have never rode a horse and they were just put right up on them and sent up the hill with no communication about what to do. Very unprofessional to not go over all the rules before we put beginners on horses. They had asked the adults who was nervous and I raised my hand, they gave me Cheyenne. She immediately started backing up and didn't want to be line. No one told me what to do, I was nervous. She did not feel strong and I felt her body underneath me about to fall over many times. She didn't want to do this she was hungry and kept stopping for food, they all did. The trail was disgusting and not maintained. Also, this is not a beginner course. Our children kept looking like they were going to fall off, it was a scary experience. I felt so bad for these horses. We will never visit this place again and honestly the humane society needs to look into them. Please do not support this very unprofessional business.
This was an awesome family experience! The staff were all very friendly, relaxed, and made everyone feel confident regardless of experience! Our guide, Emily, was very confident and knowledgeable about all the horses and why they would do what they were doing. She was also very capable of adapting to situations as they arose along the trail. The horse my son was on decided to give him a little bit of trouble and she very quickly recognized that a change needed to be made for my son's sake. She took a situation that could have very well made my son, who is only 7, not want to ride again to telling us that he had a blast and can't wait to do it again! I rode Diablo and while he appears to be one of the tallest horses their, he's very gentle and wise!
My husband and I went today, we are here in Pigeon Forge for our 10yr anniversary. Couldnt be any happier about the whole experience. Brandon was our guide every nice and was very helpful and a good guide. Would 100% would go back and would recommend to anyone looking for a good trail ride. Beautiful horses :)
I knew I was at an awesome place when I was greeted by an extremely friendly kitty. Our family had never been horseback riding before and I am a bit afraid of horses myself but the staff at the Douglas Lakeview stables were very helpful and friendly, we felt like they enjoyed us visiting as much as we liked being there. The horses are well trained, friendly and really know their stuff, even the one they had for my plus sized wife. Never once did we feel like they would freak out or that we'd slide down a hill. Vicky was an amazing guide and a very mature young lady, we will definitely request her on our next vacation. While a bit of a ride from town, I enjoyed hugging the curves and the mountain views, the entire adventure was worth every penny and every mile.
